"What is the best car?" It's a question I am asked all the time and I never have a good answer. In reality no one vehicle is right for every situation. Sometimes I need a pickup truck. If I had young children and hauled around baby strollers, car seats and diaper bags a minivan might be the right choice. A luxury car would be perfect for taking a business prospect and wife to dinner, but a convertible roadster sure would be fun for those hot summer nights. While it would be nice to have a fleet of vehicles to draw from most of us have to settle for just that one car to meet all of our needs. So many people chose a midsize four-door sedan for that one practical vehicle. But just how good can a sedan be? The midsize sedan is one of the most competitive segments in the automobile industry and no one does it better than Honda. Perennially a favorite of families everywhere the 2004 Honda Accord continues a tradition of providing reliable safe motoring at a reasonable price. Honda makes almost a dozen combinations of body styles, trim levels, engine and transmission choices. Available as either a two door coupe or a four door sedan the 2004 Honda Accord has three trim levels, the economical DX, LX and top of the line EX. While a base 4-cylinder, manual transmission DX Sedan is advertised at $16,390 be aware that very few of these cars without factory air conditioning are sold here in the Midwest. My test car was the ultimate EX model with the awesome 240 horsepower V-6, clearly moving this vehicle out of the regular sedan market into the sport sedan class. Layered in leather and equipped with Navigation my test vehicle topped out at $28,890.00. Beautifully designed, the 2004 Honda Accord is in its seventh generation as one of world's best sedans. Slightly less than 16 feet long the 2004 Honda Accord is not so big as to loose the feel of the road and become difficult to maneuver. It's sharp lines offer a youthful and modern design that both families and singles feel comfortable with. The 2004 Honda Accord is not a cramped compact and has front legroom exceeding that of a Cadillac Deville. Additionally this is a car that simply does everything right. Each day that I drove the Accord I was increasingly impressed with the attention to detail and the absolute superb fit and finish both inside and out. The engine is effortlessly quiet but ready to deliver power at an instance. Handling is tight and precise thanks to stabilizer bars front and rear, the double wishbone front suspension and five-link double wishbone rear suspension. Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and Electronic Brake Distribution stops the car instantaneously and with full control. Honda's commitment to quality and excellence is revealed in every part of the car. One of the most innovative technologies has to be the navigation system. Over the last several months I have had the opportunity to test navigation systems in a variety of models. The Honda system is one of the few that I feel is really ready for the average consumer. Voice recognition, touch screen and menu selections all help make the Honda navigation system easy to work. GPS accuracy is within a few feet and the map view can easily be zoomed in or out with voice command. I still would like a garage full of vehicles for different purposes, but if I could only own one vehicle the 2004 Honda Accord EX with Navigation might just be the best all purpose car on the road.
